BRT Educational Programs

Soon after its inception, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, became a leader in the development of educational programs.

The unit’s commander and investigators have made in excess of 100 presentations to administrators, teachers parents, community groups/organizations, and law enforcement professionals statewide, nationally and internationally. They have presented for audiences up to 500 and cover all major conferences including State PTA/PTO Conferences, Probation/Parole Conferences, Law Enforcement In-Service Trainings, and any other requested function.

Although the unit’s workload has continued to increase, both Sheriff Mike Brown, and the unit’s commander, Lt. Mike Harmony, have maintained their goal to continue making program presentations about the need for increasing Internet safety.

If your school, school district, PTA, or any other type of organization or group wishes to schedule an educational presentation, you may call the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, SOVA ICAC Task Force Headquarters at (434) 534-9521, extension 222, to request a presentation in your jurisdiction or locality.
